Games

One of my biggest hobbies is programming games. I've yet to finish anything or make much that is playable though.

Bleach Online (BO)

Bleach Online is a BYOND fan RPG based off of the manga/anime series Bleach. With over ten active developers working on the game, it is the biggest development team that I've ever worked with. I am not in charge of the project, but rather am the lead programmer. The project leader is Hulio-G who doubles as a pixel artist/pixel art mentor for the team.

Development Log: I do not keep track of all the development but I'm quite sure that we're nearing the end of the initial development items. There is an abundance of pixel art ready for use in the game, I'm just waiting for orders.

Dungeons

A BYOND adventure RPG where players build maps for one another to play while trying to be the top adventurer or map designer (based on how many players your dungeons have defeated). There is more to the game than that but most of which is still in the planning phases.

Still working on Phase 1 of the programming:

  • 9 of 14 initial components are finished
  • 4 of 14 initial components in progress
  • 1 component unstarted.

An artist, Don Ex, will be assisting me with his pixel art. We've planned for the game art to be true top-down style which supplements players building maps.

Platformer

Castlevania games inspired me to make a platformer. Although I know that C++ is much better for making games I chose to write it with Java since I'm more familiar with it. That and it's a lot easier to write.

Xenocide

Xenocide was to be an action BYOND game inspired by SilkWizard's Proelium, and E.V.O.: Search for Eden. There are two human 'teams' in Xenocide, currently, Saybrook, and Wateska. There isn't much of a developed difference between the two as of yet. I had originally planned to have Wateska be a group of mercenaries but never expanded on the idea. The third playable 'team' are the aliens, which are being hunted by the competing human teams. The premise of the game changes depending on which team you play.

The human teams, as said, are competing to collect the most alien corpses. Upon turning in collected corpses the humans receive a bounty of credits. Credits are used to purchase equipment to further increase combat effectiveness in various ways. Humans gain experience as well, as they fight. Experience works how you would expect it to work.

Aliens, are merely trying to survive, which they do by consuming cave mushrooms and the body of any deceased organisms they can find--be they downed humans or other aliens. Aliens earn EV points from their rampant consumption that they may use to upgrade their body.

All of this is played out amongst the two human team bases and a randomly generated cave map. The cave is dark, as one might expect, which adds to the survivability of the aliens that see in the dark. Human characters must rely on light sources and sound to spot the aliens.
